FLASHBACK:…..(Funky old skool Hip-Hop track)–Rodney O & Joe Cooley – Hocus Pocus

This iz a song I (General Jeff) wrote over twenty years ago and performed wit Rodney-O and Joe Cooley as a remix on our “Three The Hard Way” album on Atlantic Records……PLEASE NOTE how even though we had girls dancing in the video, they were ALL fully clothed and their talents were utilized in a professional and respectful manner…..This was a MUST for us even way back then when “other rappers” dissed women constantly which still continues to this day!!…It’s hard tryin ta “change mindsets”, BUT it’s even easier to “lead by example”!!!!!……BTW, I was offered many solo recording deals, but turned them ALL down to stay loyal to my homies……Even though we never made it all the way to the top, we got pretty damn close!!!!!!!….Enjoy!

General Jeff Celebrates “LAKERS 50 AMAZING YEARS”

General Jeff purchased a book and had Kurt Rambis autograph it by writing- “To General Jeff and the Skid Row community- Kurt Rambis”. The two of them also discussed the possibility of creating a basketball-related event at Gladys Park in Skid Row….Stay tuned!

October 19, 2012
To Skid Row,
Yesterday, Skid Row’s General Jeff was on hand at the Los Angeles Times to join the celebration of the release of a new book reflecting on 50 years of LA Laker’s history- from their start as the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1950’s, the 1980’s “Showtime” Era and the “Shaq and Kobe” Era that ended a few years ago.
There was also a discussion with former player/head coach/fan favorite Laker-great Kurt Rambis, known for his “Clark Kent” look and work ethic, about the anticipation of this season’s team that added future Hall-of-Famer’s Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, that will be joining NBA superstar and future Hall-of-Famer Kobe Bryant.
Go LAKERS

THIS JUST IN….information on “Other” Skid Row resident running for DLANC SEAT

                                                                                                             October 15, 2012
To Skid Row,
As your Skid Row resident representative for the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council for the last four years, that has fought against anybody and everybody in order to gain respect for OUR Skid Row community, including the LAPD, the Skid Row landlords, the Skid Row missions and social service providers, the City of Los Angeles, the State of California, the Federal government and a long list of “outsiders” that have tried to control us and our community to their benefit and for their personal gains, I feel that since I am being challenged in the upcoming DLANC elections, it is only fair for you to know more about my opponent that may represent you if I lose.
First of all, let me begin by stating that I don’t know EVERYTHING about my opponent. I will only share what little I do know.
To this point, there is only one person running against me. “They” work for the Midnight Mission and have for many years now. “They” work as the CEO’s executive assistant. This is the same CEO that is also on the Board of Commissioner’s for LASHA that does the Homeless Count and also provides funding for many other Skid Row non-profits’ projects. He decides who gets the funding and who doesn’t. Again “They” work for him….Are “They” gonna stand up to their boss and demand that funding be given to the Skid Row community so that we can address our issues?
Also, keep in mind that as a founding member of the Skid Row community’s own “Operation:Facelift/Skid Row” that has worked to clean Skid Row’s streets, like San Julian, since 2008, the Midnight Mission refused to “partner” with us and allow us to empty our trash in their dumpsters. They also do a poor job of keeping the outside of their building clean. I beg you to ask the question, Are “They” going to stand up to their boss and demand improvements on behalf of the Skid Row community????
Now, ask yourself this question, Is “They” running to push their own agenda, or are “They” running to push the “hidden agenda” of their boss and his buddies AND at the same time get rid of General Jeff who has been “a thorn in their side” ever since he got to Skid Row in 2006?????
If I win or not, I want our community to be improved for US…..I also want somebody that’s gonna stand up for US against ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!
I like my chances in this race, BUT I can’t do it without your vote!!!!!!!!!!
Skid Row….Stand UP!!!!!!!!!!!……Stand UP…Skid Row!!!!!!!…..Skid Row…Stand UP!!!!!!!!!…..Stand UP…Skid Row!!!!!!
….and tell your neighbor!!!!!!!!
Remember to vote– November 15, 2012

BREAKING NEWS: Skid Row’s General Jeff to run for Neighborhood Council re-election

                           To Skid Row

General Jeff Running for Re-Election in 2012

At the OVERWHELMING urging of countless Skid Row residents, General Jeff has decided to once again run for re-election to the Board of Directors for the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC).
In 2008, when then-Senator Barack Obama first ran for President of the United States, Skid Row was excited about the elections. That energy was also found in DLANC’s elections which happened earlier that year when DLANC had their biggest turnout in it’s history! (since 2002)….Now, President Obama is running for re-election and so is General Jeff. Thus far, Skid Row is once again excited about the elections. Only this time, DLANC elections happen AFTER the Presidential elections.
That said, General Jeff is also a community activist for the Skid Row community and residents. His long list of successes include the renovation of Gladys Park, which includes the NIKE basketball court (2008), brand new chess/dominoes tables (2009) and most recent fitness equipment-dip bars (2011). Since then, General Jeff has had a major hand in numerous events in Skid Row such as the “Operation Skid Row Music Festival”, which featured well over 30 music recording artists such as Public Enemy (Chuck D and Flavor Flav), Kurupt from the Dogg Pound (think Snoop Lion, formerly Snoop Dog), Mellow Man Ace, Kid Frost, Yo-Yo (think Ice Cube), The Lady of Rage (think Death Row Records) and King T (think Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records).
Another MAJOR accomplishment happened earlier this year (2012) when both Skid Row Housing Trust (January) and SRO Housing Corporation (March) both completely abolished (removed) their charging of overnight guest fees. General Jeff first started this effort in 2008 when he negotiated with SRHT to have them accept his pilot project that waived the overnight guest fees for 6 months. Because the pilot project was so successful, an extension happened. And quite obviously, the extensions continued until they were permanently removed. SRO Housing Corp followed after countless meetings and aggressive public urgings by General Jeff, which also included powerful political support on various levels.
We have much more work to do, but have SUBSTANTIAL PROOF that we are making a difference!!!!!
General Jeff once again asks for your support as we continue to change OUR Skid Row community forever and it starts with your vote on November 15th during the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC) elections!!!!!!!!
VOTE FOR—–>>>>>> General Jeff for “Skid Row resident representative”……….and tell your neighbor!!!!!
Date: NOVEMBER 15th, 2012
Location: 114 WEST 5th street (at the DTLA Exchange, where the Downtown Comedy Club used to be on 5th and Main)( formerly Billy’s Coffee shop)
Time: Voting time is from 2pm to 8pm
And for the record, there is at least one other candidate that is running against me- so you NEEd to show up!!!!!
Thank you in advance for your support and your vote,
General Jeff
